Lisa Baker, a California native, grew up in a family of artists who all shared a passion for creativity and beauty. Surrounded by the talent of her parents and three sisters, Lisa was not always aware that she had an extraordinary gift.  She always felt compelled to find ways to carry out the creative visions that she would get in her head.  Art was her outlet, because it was the one thing she felt she was good at.  It wasn't until she got older that she realized that she and her family had shared the unique, natural ability to express themselves artistically.

Lisa is a wife of nearly forty years, the mother of three girls, and the grandmother of five. She is a retired teachers aide who taught art at a elementry school in Visalia, California and now spends much of her time painting in her home studio in Nipomo, California. She has used many mediums but now prefers watercolor because it challenges her and uses it almost exclusively.  She is inspired by the beauty she sees in God's creation.

Many of Lisa's paintings are available for purchase, though some of her originals are no longer available.  If an original is not available or you are wanting a lower price, consider purchasing a Giclée print.  Giclée is a french word that means a spray of liquid or ink.  A Giclée is a digital copy of an original work of art made using very high-resolution digital scans and ink-jet printers that spray tiny droplets of archival ink onto fine-art papers and canvas.  It is a highly collectible and well-established medium in the fine art world.  A Giclée can truly represent the original better than any other means of reproduction.

Lisa uses Mullins Editions to produce the Giclée prints made of 100% cotton Rag paper and professional grade Epson ink-jet printers with archival Ultrachrome pigmented inks along with archival media to produce the highest quality Giclée prints that, with proper care, have archival characteristics of 150-200 years.  For care instructions please visit wilhelm-research.com for more information.

If you are interested in purchasing a painting please submit the contact form below.  Some of her pieces are available with matting and frames or you can request her assistance or opinion on what would be most suitable for the painting you are wanting to purchase.

Every October Lisa shows her paintings in her home studio for the Arts Obispo's Open Studio event. For more information visit artsobispo.org.
